Sue made an appointment with Piet -neurocoach (empowerresilience coaching) for her anxiety.

The first contact is normally to get to know each other and for Sue to decide whether she trusts coach Piet and whether he understands her challenge with anxiety.

During the conversation, Sue made specific remarks such as: “I don’t understand what is happening”. ” I don’t know what to do anymore, I can’t take this anymore”, it feels as if I am losing myself as well as my family and colleagues, my relationship in society is taking a nose-dive and I prefer not to have contact with people”

These comments indicated a misalignment and incoherence between her three Intelligence centers.

Reflecting on Sue’s comments and providing feedback, included the following:

•            Sue: “I don’t know what to do anymore”, “I don’t understand what is happening”

(This was Sue’s “head brain Talking” and reflects cognitive confusion) – understanding and making meaning

•            Piet:” Sue, I get the impression that you are overwhelmed by your situation if you feel comfortable, would you mind expanding…”

•            Sue: “I can’t take this anymore.” “It feels as if I am losing myself, my family, and my colleagues.”

(This was Sue’s “heart brain”, focusing on relating and connecting, participating in the conversation, indicating emotional distress and a sense of disconnection; possibly a loss of identity as well)

•            Piet: Tel me more about the loss that you feel….

•            Sue: My relationship in society is taking a “nose-dive”, and I prefer to avoid having contact with people.”

(Avoidance and withdrawal may be a possible indication that the “gut brain”, which is responsible for courage, the setting of boundaries, and self-preservation, is in protective or “shut Down” mode)

•            Piet: Please elaborate, if you wish, and specifically describe the feeling or experience in your body when you find yourself in social gatherings….

Toward the end of our first session, I provided feedback to Sue, elaborating on the comments that she made, and described the concept of mBraining, indicating that an overall picture that she presented seems to be indicative of a misalignment between her three centers of intelligence. I. also explained that the mBIT coaching process is a powerful process to align the three centers thus empowering her to make courageous shifts to adapt new perspectives, to adopt the necessary shifts in her daily routine, and embrace a new and lasting approach to alleviate the stress-anxiety experience.

After explaining the suggested process, Sue had questions regarding the duration and costs involved (the first contact is free of charge).

Sue decided to embark on the journey for at least four coaching sessions.

I closed the session with a box breathing exercise and made an appointment for our next session.

Before leaving I gave her some “homework”:

Sue, when you get home, think deeply about the experience you shared with me. Start a journal and make notes. Do this every day. Expand on the notes you made the previous day until our next session. Also spend time, even if it is only two minutes daily for your breathing routine. A specific focus in her journaling exercise that I suggested was to start thinking about her daily routine: The question to answer: what is the one thing that you can change in your daily schedule that will make life easier?

Sue left much more relaxed than when we met!

(THE DURATION OF THE FIRST SESSION WAS 65 MINUTES)
